Geography trivia questions
Geography trivia questions about countries, capitals, cities, rivers, mountains, islands and more, from the answers everyone knows to the ones almost nobody does.
Geography prompts ask you to name a place: a country in Africa, a river in Europe, a volcano, a strait, a city in Japan or a tectonic plate. Everyone can name France or the Nile. The game rewards the answers that sit further down: the small countries, the second-tier cities, the islands people have to look up on a map.
Because place names have many spellings, the game accepts common alternatives, ignores accents and capital letters, and forgives small typos. “Mount” and “the” are optional, so “Kilimanjaro” and “Mount Kilimanjaro” both count.

Tips for rare geography answers
- Think regionally: after the famous capital, try the second and third city of the same country.
- Small states score well: microstates, island nations and landlocked countries are rarely the first answer anyone gives.
- Use the map in your head: walk along a coastline or a river and name what you pass.
