Seal Circle: trivia with friends

Penguins on an iceberg at night, a hungry leopard seal in the middle, and one prompt for everyone. Answer on your turn, before somebody takes your answer.

How a game goes

  1. Open a room, pick the prompts (everyday questions, one of 10 topics, or Wildcards) and a level, and send your friends the four-letter code or the link. Two to twelve players, no account needed.
  2. Everyone gets the same prompt, like “Name something with wheels”. Keep your answer to yourself.
  3. The seal turns to each penguin in turn. On your turn, say something nobody has said yet before the clock runs out. Everyone watches you type.
  4. An answer already said is gone. Too slow, and the seal bites: three bites and your penguin falls in the sea.
  5. Every answer fills your bar by how rare it is. The first full bar wins.

Why rare answers win

Answers score by level, from 10 points for the ones everyone says to 85 for The Abyss and 100 for the single legendary answer. A player who goes for the tip needs many turns; a player who dives deep needs only a few. Keeping a common answer for later is risky, because anyone answering before you can take it.

Open rooms and private rooms

A room can be open, so anyone can find it in the room list (sorted by name, and searchable by name, topic or level), or private, so only people with the code or the link can join. Whoever joins mid-game watches and plays from the next one.

Whoever opens the room is its host: they choose the settings and start each game. The host can hand the room to another player at any time, and if they leave or lose their connection, the next player takes over and everyone is told.

How deep does your knowledge go?

Seven prompts a day, twenty seconds each. Obvious answers float on the tip of the iceberg; rare ones sink all the way to the trench.
